Cross-Program Interoperability

EPC contains an advanced Risk Management module that provides users with the facility to input the likelihood and impact of a risk. When mapping processes in EPC, users can identify and associate risks to a specific process; by doing that, all process users are informed at the same time of a potential hazard. With the risk profile matrix, users prioritize risks to implement and follow an effective contingency plan. Finally, the Risk module allows users to schedule audits to test the success of controls.

Process Discovery

Use the EPC Modeler's user friendly process mapping capabilities to map your processes in BPMN. BPMN serves as a communicative tool that allows for the smooth transition from process design to implementation, designed to be understood by both IT and business users. Link associated objects to processes easily with only a few clicks of your mouse. Assign process ownership, manage IT assets, define employee roles, link documents to processes, highlight associated risks and implement controls on processes to mitigate those risks, and more. All objects associated to processes are clearly indicated on the process maps for easy understanding. The EPC allows for the comprehensive documentation of your end-to-end business processes.

Smart Process Repository

At the heart of the EPC is the Smart Process Repository which allows users to gain a holistic view of their operations. Storing all processes and associated objects in one common, secure database allows for easy access for permitted employees. All process touchpoints, object relationships, employee roles, and any object uses can be displayed directly below process maps in the EPC Modeler's details panel.

In the EPC, roles and resources are maintained in separate libraries where specific roles are created independently of the people and assets that fulfill them. This enables for a smooth transition of roles when there is employee turnover, and creates further consistency when multiple employees are assigned the same role.

Additionally, the EPC's process repository can automatically generate swimlane views that allow business users to gain a better understanding of the relationship between tasks and their owners. With EPC swimlanes, business users can set color coding for roles, resources, assets, and departments centrally within the organization module which could be utilized across all swimlane diagrams.

Risk Management

EPC contains an advanced Risk Management module that allows users to visualize risks for a better understanding. When mapping your processes in EPC, identify and associate each risk to its corresponding process as an object on the process map, thereby clearly informing all process users to the potential hazard. Insert a corresponding control action object to that process, assigning ownership to ensure that the appropriate action is taken to mitigate each risk. The module’s risk profile matrix allows process owners to define risks by likelihood and impact, and the effectiveness of an associated control. The risk priority is then generated to ensure quick mitigation response.

Process Lifecycle Management

By gaining a holistic view of your operations, the EPC allows for the advanced analysis of end-to-end processes. Creating a process-centric organization will enable you to overcome the hurdles of chaotic management. Leverage out of the box best practice libraries such as ITIL V3 and the APQC's Process Classification Framework to use as a benchmark for your operations. The biggest advantage of process discovery is the ability to re-engineer your processes to achieve your organization's true potential. In addition, the EPC provides version control and audit trails in order to track process alterations.

Business Rules Management

Standardize and enforce company strategy by modeling operations, definitions, and constraints to be followed by employees with Business Rules. These rules define and constrain company processes in order to control the behavior of your organization, ensuring that employee activities are aligned with business goals and strategies. By connecting business rules to business processes, you create a direct correlation between company policy and business activities. As with all objects in the EPC, business rules are handled independently of processes so that any alterations to rules can be made from one central location.

Master Data Management

EPC contains a Master Data Manager that standardizes data definitions and object types. Utilizing IT resources for the execution of data-rich business processes requires standardized data so that multiple IT systems can communicate according to a set of reference definitions. This formalizes the type of data used by your company, allowing for the enforcement of consistency among the representation and usage of data within IT systems.

Service Management

Documenting processes in the EPC allows users to align their IT strategies with their business processes and create a Service Oriented Architecture. This maintains consistent end-user systems, improves the delivery of application services, allows for the rapid response to changing technologies, and increases the overall flexibility of your IT department. With the EPC, services are directly related to process activities and business rules, bringing your company the advantage of visualizing its use of computer resources. With this visibility, users can make effective decisions on how to evolve their IT framework to serve their business processes.
